Everybody Has Advice: 5 “Relationship Experts” That I Actually LIKE!

When muddling through the muck and mire of a relationship, it can be hard to know where to turn for advice. As you well know, there are a lot of folks working under the guise of “relationship expert”, and  I have noted on more than one occasion how much these jokers get-my-goat. (occasion 1 & occasion 2).

In my quest to find solid relationship advice, I have found some great credentialed and experienced experts that offer awesome insights.  This list is not based off of superficial Facebook pages and fake Twitter quotes, I have personal relationships with each of these individuals.  I have come to know what they stand for both personally and professionally.  I have also been the beneficiary of following some of their advice.

When it comes to love, everybody from cousin D.J. to Aunt Mamie Lee has advice, but here are 5 relationship experts that I actually LIKE!!

The Experts:

drsherry21. Dr. Sherry Blake

You’ve seen her as the family therapist on Braxton Family Values, but it’s not her Reality TV appeal that makes me like Dr. Sherry.  I had to pleasure of spending some time with she and her hubby and gathered a deep admiration for her “practice what you preach” approach to relationships.  You can find her advice column Ask Dr. Sherry on Essence.com, visit her blog Dr. Sherry Online or follow her on Twitter.

paul_brunson2. Paul Carrick Brunson

In case you didn’t tune in to the wildly popular Lovetown USA series on OWN network, I’m sure you have seen Paul Carrick Brunson’s face floating around. He also the author of the Bestselling book It’s Complicated (But It Doesn’t Have to Be): A Modern Guide to Finding and Keeping Love  highly sought after Matchmaker.  In addition to being witty and authentic, Paul has some of the best “people skills” that I have ever witnessed.  But what gets me most is that he refers to his wifey as his “celebrity crush” (swoons).  Follow his Modern Day Matchmaker column on Essence.com, his website or connect with him on Twitter.

Jack-Daniels3. Jack A. Daniels

Not many guys come straight out and say “I need a wife”, but that is EXACTLY how I met Jack A. Daniels (…nope, this the OTHER Jack Daniels).  This licensed Psychotherapist, speaker and author has an impressive roster of clients that all flock to him to learn his “Stay Out Of Your Own Way” philosophy.  His latest FREE video series Mate Attraction takes the guesswork out of  attracting your soul mate.  Here is a link to Jack’s website or you can check him out on Twitter.

The Married Folks:

charli24. Charli Penn-Watkins

Wife, pet owner and relationship blogger Charli Penn-Watkins is the voice behind the popular blog Man Wife and Dog.  It’s important to be able to take an honest and objective view at relationships, even your own.  And that is just what I love about Charli.  Apparently I’m not the only one, her work has been featured on Madame Noir, Redbook, Media Bistro and Glamour.  Naturally Mrs. Charli is no stranger to Twitter either.

eric_payne5. Eric Payne

Man, Dad, Husband blogger E. Payne is one of my favorite blogger-dudes. Not only does he always greets me with a laid back easy grin, he also supports anyone bringing love into a positive light.  But all that pails in comparison to his real-talk relationship advice.  I just love a man who writes with both logic and compassion.  Ain’t no pansies up at the Makes Me Wanna Holla blog with Eric, nope its all about the business of being a family man.  This guy is all over the place dropping knowledge including HLN, Huffington Post and Black And Married With Kids.  But you can also find him burning up Twitter.

There are lots of experts that make really big mistakes with their perspectives on relationships.  I really love this post from our friends over at Black and Married With Kids, so check it out…
