Sometimes You Have To Tell Yourself I’ll Be Right Back
Just taking a moment to look back and reflect on the past 30 days of my journey into 2013. I have found that reflection is needed to keep me going and to allow me to see the blessings that have passed my way. Often times I get so caught up that I don’t actually get to live in the moment and therefore I must go back to the memory to really appreciate what happened. On December 30, 2012, MarryMe4Life partnered with Resplendent-Relationships, LLC to host a couple’s event entitled “Through The Fire”. It was truly awesome as over 20 couples meet up for brunch and celebrated the highs and lows of marriage and how we made it through 2012. Witnessing the expressions of love, obstacles that were overcome, and congratulatory milestones from the couples was nothing short of a miracle.
Celebrations of triumph against the odds are always necessary to motivate and keep you looking forward to the next phase of life. They are reminders that if you just hold on brighter days will emerge. Besides you appreciate the Mountaintop View because of the Valleys you went through to get there. While toasting with champagne, we decided to make this an annual yearly event at the end of December and look forward to seeing even more couples come out to celebrate their year in review.
Next came ringing in the New Year with old friends. It’s great to visit old familiar faces and you feel like you’re at a family reunion. I am thankful that I can re-enter a place from old and people greet you and love on you as if you have never left their sight. Fast forward a few weeks and we were enjoying the Presidential Inauguration of our 44th president, Barack Obama in Washington, DC. The camaraderie and excitement experienced during Inaugural weekend was just unexplainable. Not only were we able to be a part of history, but also to do it in the company of other couples, families, and strangers, who were all there for the same purpose was phenomenal.
As my husband and I visited family in Maryland, and Virginia, and then back to DC to enjoy the festivities of the Georgia State Ball with the awesome Gladys Knight, how could I not be on cloud nine? But, I must admit, if I did not have my best friend who is my husband by my side during it all, well the memories would not have seemed as special and monumental. To share those moments with him is the greatest treasured reflection. When it’s all said and done, and life is fading away, my memories will take me back to those unforgettable days. Remember, you “MarryMe4Life” so do Life Together. Reflect, be thankful, and move forward. I can’t wait to see what the next 30 days hold and I tell myself again, hold on self, I’ll be right back after I reflect.
