Taking Care Of My Husband: I Love Him Enough To Make Him Go!!!
As the New Year is in full effect, most of us have scheduled or plan to schedule our yearly physical exam. Most women will gear up to make the call and schedule their PAP and Mammograms, if needed, even Colonoscopy to make sure digestive systems are in good working order. Yes, we women make sure our bodies not only look good on the outside, but also are also good on the inside. However, most of us don’t push the man in our lives to have that annual exam. It’s vitally important that as a couple you both have optimum health and handle whatever issues that may be of concern.
Now I know your man may be one of those who swear he feels fine and doesn’t need a doctor to tell him anything. But reality is that without diagnostic tests and preventative measures, issues can arise that threaten his health and the health and quality of your relationship. Remind him that his body is just like his car, without proper oil change, tune-ups, tire rotations, and brake inspection; the car won’t perform the way it could. Men often think they are invincible and feel doctors are always looking to find something wrong. That type of thinking keeps our men from finding a competent doctor that he can build a relationship with to keep him in good health.
Love him enough to make him go and if necessary go with him. Find out from your girls who their man sees for his exams. A good male doctor that your husband would feel comfortable with may be all that is needed to get him in the office. Let him know that his friend “BOB” saw a great doctor and you think he should see him also. Don’t give up, his life and really yours depend on this. If prior conversations still keep him out of a doctor’s office don’t give up; PUSH (Plant the Seed Until Something Happens). Love him enough to make him go.
