Will The REAL Housewives On The Block Please Stand Up!

Housewives franchises are some of the most popular forms of reality television since following people with camera crews and looking into their personal lives became such great entertainment. How did we go from scripted, well thought out and rehearsed drama to flat out everyday, “Have It Your Way”,”I Don’t Care Who I Hurt Drama”? Now I must admit I do have my pick of Housewives that I can’t seem to get enough of no matter how ratchet they can be at times. I still can’t help but become sadden by the hurtful and demeaning ways these women portray us REAL HOUSEWIVES.

Before you go off and say they don’t represent you, think again. These franchises are seen all over the globe including the Internet market. For most, viewers this is as close as they will ever get inside a family that has a different ethnic make up than their own. No matter the income bracket, racial makeup, or marital status, these women are the spotlights and their stories become our stories whether we identify with the foolishness or not.

What should we do as Real Housewives to change or stop this two-headed monster from becoming a blob and consuming what our core values and sacrifices really represent? Expressing our views to one another in the hair salon is great, as I have had detailed discussions about episodes that where down right ghetto. Should we express in petition to each of these networks (there are many to name) our disgust or should we just hope that this would pass away without any erosion to family values or women equality.

I know it really is a guilty pleasure for some of us. But to see wives, mothers, daughters, sisters, granddaughters, and in some cases grandmothers live before the public eye acting just the opposite of a wife or mother is just down right wrong. I know that for some, money and a little change will make you do and say some strange things but there must be another way for these women to earn their pay without the antics or belittling of one another.

To say nothing and let it happen is just wrong. We should want better representation of who we really are and if nothing else at least a balance of what most Wives and Mothers represent in our community. You see, there is a next-generation of mothers and wives watching the television and finding shows over the Internet, and we can’t afford to stay silent. What say you blog family? Are you willing to stand-up and let your voice be heard as THE REALHOUSEWIFE on the block?

Great article! As a FOR REAL ‘Housewife’ I never conidered the idea that those women represented me. Until I went to Mexico with some of my girlfriends and the concierge asked if I knew Nene. #icant

Exactly Sapphire, that’s why #icant, and #wecant overlook this. Thanks for sharing.
