DISCLAIMER: This article is not meant to objectify women in anyway. It is simply a rebuttal opinion poll based upon the fact that we brothers feel that our sisters were not accurately represented and that we as men were not polled correctly. All national publications do some form of this list and we would be remiss not to give you the insight of the everyday man who you all may actually have a chance to date.
In the December 2011 issue of Men’s Health Magazine there was an article listing their “100 Hottest Women of All Time.” Many of you may have read it or heard about it. It was a remarkable list of women spanning from the 1930’s till modern day. While it was an expansive list, it was still somewhat of a flawed list. Especially when you consider that of the 100, only six were African American. Being that Men’s Health is predominately a White man’s magazine, that is not truly surprising. What is suprising is that NONE of the sisters made the top ten or even the top 20. Note to those who want to be smart….Black by insertion, women of color who are not African American and darker than average White does NOT count.
No, I am not at all a racist, but this list got me to wondering, just how differently would a list look if Black men were creating it. Being that it would have taken months for me to compile a list of 100 names, I took the easier route and decided to go with the top ten.
In the name of research, I asked a cross section of Black men to do one simple task; name their top ten sexiest women of all time. I did not throw in race at all because I simply wanted to know, what did my brotha’s think were the sexiest women in their opinion. Needless to say, I was surprised at some of the names I got back.
Before I give you my list, let me say that this was not as easy as I thought it would be. In fact, as I am typing this article I realize that I am in essence two weeks behind my anticipated release date. The tough part was not thinking of 10 sexy women, it was having the entire panel agree on THE 10 sexiest women. Needless to say, some great choices did not make the final cut and we had to add a category for honorable mention to cover the near misses. This may be a less than 100% objective list, but it is certainly a non-biased list of the women that we as Black men have considered sexy over the years.
The list is broken down into four categories: The Bombshells (those that unanimously were chosen), The Icons (timeless beauty agreed upon by all the panel),The Sirens (those that we reached compromise on as being sexy) and Honorable Mention (those near misses that we simply could not agree upon but felt needed mentioning). So without further delay, here is the Black Man’s List of the 10 Sexiest Women of all Time:
