This article begins a series of articles from guest bloggers as they chronicle their journeys in life. The series will include journeys in health and wellness, life and love, happiness, poverty to prosperity and many others. Our first guest blogger is Staci Cash from Houston, TX as she “sets the table” which will develop, in future posts, into the story of her weight loss journey.
When you think of some of Gods’ most precious creations, what is it that comes to mind? Picture yourself on the most magnificent of magnificent islands or just somewhere out in the Mediterranean. Now close your eyes and picture yourself gazing at Earth’s finest architectural designs and feasting royally on the rarest of meats and fruits. Beautiful isn’t it? Some would even say beautiful is an understatement. Others would say it doesn’t get any better than this and this is where I need to be. Then all of a sudden with no warning or signs of distress your paradise is turned into your worst nightmare. Suddenly you have a million and one questions. Why this, why that, how can this be, how can that be? With a smirk on my face as I write this, I know now what the question at the top of the list is. What is the smirk about?
The irony of it all is this is how life is presented to us on a daily basis. Every second, every minute, of every hour, within every day of every year we are given the Great, the Good, the Bad and of course the Worst when we least expect it. What sets you aside from it all is your ability to endure it all with the same outcome. I know right, sounds easier said than done. But for one second do not believe that these four states of being do not work in accordance with one another. For, there is not a criteria at hand to strive for if we are not given the foundation to surpass. This even works hand in hand with the concepts of bad and worse. If we were never placed in bad situations or settings, how could we ever know when bad gets worse. Understanding it all is the ability that allows you to smile through it all.
Some may pose the question: How can I smile when things are not where I want nor need them to be? The only response to that question is “why not smile?” I ask what have you done, better yet what are you doing to assure that this particular state of being and outcome is being changed? I will allow this question to manifest and dawn on you for a second or two. What is turbulence? When most think and hear of turbulence, the first thing that comes to mind is being on an airplane. But you do not just experience turbulence on an airplane. What if I’ve never flown, are you telling me I’ll never experience the feel of turbulence? Turbulence is sudden, violent movements of air or water. It may also be a state of confusion, violence, or disorder and even the quality or state of being turbulent. The great commotion or agitation is better known as emotional turbulence. I have that smirk again and now it’s for two reasons. First, being because this turbulence thing sounds like all aspects of life and secondly I no longer have to tell you why I’m smirking because now you have the same smirk upon your face. So now I ask that you just sit back and experience the story of overcoming turbulence as told by me.
