Marriage & CouplehoodOur Happy Marriage

What The Heck Are You Thinkin Bout?

“What if I were still single?  I could be having fun like in the old college days”.

“Why did I marry this man?  I could be living life by myself or with someone else”.

What other thoughts do you have running through your brain?    Better yet, how often do you have negative questions or comments running through your brain?  Do you know that your brain determines what you do in life?

Here’s a scenario:  You’re not a comedian.  If your brain thinks you are a comedian, guess what, you’re going to try telling jokes.  Even though you’re not funny, you keep telling jokes because your brain is telling you that you are a comedian.  Now here is the funny thing, if you keep telling more and more jokes, lame and all, you might find an audience that will actually label you as a comedian … and it all started with your thoughts of being a comedian.

The biblical verse from Proverbs 23:7 says, “As a man (woman) thinketh in his heart, so is he (she)”.  If you feel this is true, then you need to watch the thoughts that pop up in your mind.  These can be small mediocre thoughts or very deep thoughts.  The consequences can end up being the same. … severe damage to your relationship.  If you have thoughts saying that your spouse will never be able to satisfy your needs, there is absolutely no way that your needs will be satisfied by your spouse.  Or if you have continual thoughts which visualizes you with that friendly coworker that you are always “shootin the breeze” with, something in your head might click one day prompting you to take a next step to bring that thought into reality.

So what the heck are you thinkin bout?

Even if things are not perfect in your relationship, don’t let negative thoughts and ideas saturate your mind.  You need to do your best to keep positive thoughts in your mind as often as possible.  As positive thoughts remain in your mind, so shall your relationship remain on the positive side of the pendulum.

So what the heck are you thinkin bout?

I hope you’re thinkin bout how you can love your spouse better than you did yesterday.  I hope you’re thinkin bout your next date-night-out with your spouse.  I hope you’re thinkin bout what you will do with your spouse on your 10th, 25th, and 50th wedding anniversary.

What am I thinkin bout?  I thinkin bout loving my spouse.

Love hard and love true.

Let us know your thoughts.
